The daughter of a photography hobbyist from Hilton Head, South Carolina, Gray Benko is not your average small-town girl. After a modeling contract led her to Japan, and studying Fine Arts and Photography at three major universities in New York City, Chicago, and South Carolina, Gray returned home to Charleston to turn her passion into a thriving photography business. Specializing in child and newborn photography and eventually branching out into family and commercial photography, Gray’s work has been featured in national ad campaigns, in both print and online publications, attracted high- profile clients, and earned her the fierce devotion of families whose memories she loves to document. Inspired by the honesty and spontaneity of children (especially her crazy, red-haired kids, Farris and Charlie), Gray strives to photograph the beauty of unplanned, unscripted moments, and the real, raw love between families. Gray lives with her husband, her kids, their dog, Goose, and cat, Lex, in a 130 year-old house that they will never, ever be finished renovating. In addition to her clients, Gray loves the outdoors, french fries, Julie Andrews, and using the SUV remote control to convince her children that they can open car doors with their minds.
